This past weekend, I, Farmer Steven, had the incredible opportunity to attend Feds for Freedom in Washington DC, an event focused on connecting people who care about personal freedom and self-reliance in our everyday lives. While the cause touches on many aspects of government oversight, my goal in participating was simple: to share a taste of farm life and sustainable practices with people who are curious about where their food comes from.

As a vendor, I brought along some of our farm’s freshest offerings — raw cheese, eggs, and ground beef — and I’m happy to say that I sold out! Even better, we were able to provide attendees with snacks & samples straight from the farm, letting them experience the flavors of our pastures firsthand. To help showcase the farm and make our table welcoming, our marketing team designed some beautiful signage, which really helped tell the story of what we do.

Beyond selling products, the event was a wonderful chance to connect with like-minded people — folks who are striving to live in a way that honors the traditions of our forefathers. I had many interesting conversations, exchanged ideas, and attended several educational talks that were both inspiring and thought-provoking. Being surrounded by a community that values practical skills, personal responsibility, and connection to the land reminded me why I do what I do every day on the farm.

If you’d like to learn more about the organization, you can visit Feds for Freedom here.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the event, as well as to those who signed up for our mailing list. I look forward to welcoming you as part of our farm family and sharing more of what we grow and care for with you.

The Transition from Hay to Fresh Grass

Switching from stored hay to fresh green pasture is one of the most challenging transitions we manage all year in milk production. It’s also one of the most exciting. After months of feeding dry forage through the winter, spring finally brings new grass, longer days, and that first stretch of bright green fields. The cows feel it. We feel it. Everything wakes back up. It’s a reminder of God’s design in creation: renewal, growth, and life coming forth again.

A Shift in the Vaccine Schedule

We see it every day in our pastures. Animals raised outdoors, on grass, allowed to move and grow naturally without constant interventions, are hardy and resilient. They aren’t dependent on routine shots or synthetic supports. Their immune systems develop the way they were designed to.
