Simple food from the land, prepared the way families have done for generations. Tender pieces of beef, fresh vegetables, and steady heat in a cast-iron skillet. No fillers. No processing. Just honest ingredients raised with care, the kind of meal that satisfies hardworking hands and gathers everyone to the table.
Directions
Ingredients
- 1½ - 2 pounds beef tips or cubed steak (sirloin, chuck, or stew meat)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 2 cups chopped vegetables (carrots, green beans, zucchini, cabbage, or whatever’s in season)
- ¾ cup raw cow cream (optional for richness)
- salt, to taste
- black pepper or herbs (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter.
- Add beef in a single layer and let it brown well before stirring. Cook 6-8 minutes until nicely seared.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Add onions and vegetables. Stir and cook until tender, about 8-10 minutes.
- For a richer finish, reduce heat and stir in the cream. Stir gently for 2-3 minutes.
Serving Notes
Serve straight from the skillet with potatoes, fresh bread, or a simple salad. This meal travels well, reheats easily, and is perfect for family suppers or sharing with neighbors.
